YardBrick offers free, fast calculators for homeowners and DIYers planning concrete, landscaping, painting, flooring, fencing, drywall, roofing and HVAC projects.

Formulas follow common industry rules of thumb and manufacturer data. Results are estimates — always confirm with your supplier, especially for structural work.

Our Team

YardBrick is written and maintained by a small editorial team. We build each calculator, write the explanations that go with it, and keep both up to date.

Before a calculator goes live we check its formula and default values against manufacturer coverage charts and published trade references, such as concrete bag yields, brick and tile dimensions, and ENERGY STAR and Department of Energy guidance. Each calculator page lists the references we used and the date it was last reviewed. Our general approach is described on the How We Calculate page.

We are not licensed engineers, and nothing on this site replaces a contractor, inspector or structural engineer for work that needs one. If you spot a mistake, please email us — corrections are reviewed and the page date is updated when we change something.
